Teen Program

The La Brea Tar Pits invites curious and motivated teens to join us for our Teen Program's debut season! As part of the first cohort, ten 13- to 16-year-olds will work behind-the-scenes with expert staff from the La Brea Tar Pits to explore the stories of the Tar Pits, and create a free "teen-only" event in celebration of the what they discover. With this program, we aim to provide our participants with a positive and supportive network to explore their interests in the natural world, and an experience that stands out on future job and college applications. The program season will run from November 2018 to March 2019 with meetings every two weeks.

Applications will be available starting Monday, September 17, 2018 at 9 am and we will continue accepting applications until Monday, October 1, 2018 at 5 pm. Instructions for submitting the application will be included with the application. Click here to learn more!

Adventures in Nature Day Camp

Thank you to all of the families that joined us for the summer of 2018. Check back in the fall for information about our seasonal winter and spring camps!

Adventures in Nature is a day camp offered every summer and seasonally throughout the school year at both the La Brea Tar Pits and the Natural History Museum. Children in grades K through 8 have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of Museum topics — Earth's features, creatures, and cultures from around the globe. Enroll your children in our hands-on, interactive classes and they will learn about fascinating topics through active encounters that spark children's natural curiosity and creativity.
