Get Ready for a Hair-Raising Experience!
The Ice Age Hair Ball, June 21, 2014
A mash-up of hair-tastic fun and science, this event is about being seen and Pleisto-seen.
Come mingle with scientists, see the current excavations happening right in the heart of Los Angeles, and dance the night away.
What IS the Hair Ball?
With 100 years of digging at the La Brea Tar Pits under our belts, we thought it was time to launch a celebration fit for a prestigious asphalt seep. At this mash-up of fashion + science we will raise funds in support of the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits at a party that is just oozing with fun.
The inaugural event will shine a spotlight on the world famous paleontological location and feature once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to participate in scientific discovery, all while celebrating the hairy Ice Age mammals who roamed what is now Los Angeles 40,000 years ago.
Guests will enjoy an array of activities over cocktails. A Pre-Party Dinner will kick off the evening and prepare guests for a night of revelry they won’t soon forget.
How DO you Hair Ball, you ask?
Guests are encouraged to wear highly stylized hair for the event — the more outrageous, the better. This will be an evening to trade in those excavation tools for hair tools. At the Ice Age Hair Ball, hair is all the rage and Ice Age mammals are the inspiration. After all, Ice Age mammals had hairballs.
Short on hair brained ideas?
No need to stalk your own personal hair stylist? Be creative. Whether you want to wig out, get stuck on hue, fuss over your own weave, or let the 5 o’clock shadows show, there are no hair-brained ideas at this party.
